A.C. Moore Collects and Donates Crayons for the Crayon Initiative

Over the summer of 2017, A.C. Moore held a crayon collection drive to benefit The Crayon Initiative, an organization that collects used crayons and melts them down to create new boxes of crayons that are donated to children’s hospitals.The collection drive, which occurred at all 133 A.C. Moore locations, received 19,308 pounds of crayons which will produce more than 96,000 boxes of crayons. The A.C. Moore Foundation also donated $20,000 to the Crayon Initiative ($1 for every pound of crayons collected).

Bryan Ware, the founder of The Crayon Initiative, says that the outcome of the collection was amazing. “I couldn’t have asked for a better partnership,” he says. He started The Crayon Initiative to help children in children’s hospitals to relieve stress and take their mind off of what they are going through.

“Thank you to all of our generous customers who donated crayons to this year’s collection—especially the countless children who engaged their schools and communities to make a difference,” said Pepe Piperno, owner and CEO of A.C. Moore, in a press release.
